Terms of service.

Studio’s:

Our business hosts two separate pottery studio’s. Our sister studio is a PYOP shop where you can purchase blank pottery pieces and paint them!

Our pottery studio specialises in classes, workshops, courses and studio rental. These businesses are managed separately and enquiries will be dealt with in accordance to this. If you have an enquiry about painting pots or a voucher to use within their studio, please get in touch with them here. Our sister studio’s opening times do not correspond with ours so please check the opening times on our website.

Vouchers bought via their website cannot be used for services we offer, please discuss this with them if you have any concerns and ensure you are purchasing the correct voucher.

Booking:

All lessons must be scheduled and paid for before attending via our online scheduling system in the 'book now' section. Please do not bring additional attendees without letting us know first. If you are unable to attend your lesson, please email or call us as soon as possible and we will either reschedule your class or issue you a refund. Please note all transactions within our services are cashless, requiring payment through authorised digital payment methods only.

Vouchers:

Every voucher issued has an expiry date. Please ensure that you contact us within the 1year time period of the voucher being issued or advise the person you are gifting the voucher to to do so! We cannot book individuals in with expired vouchers unfortunately. If you are unable to use your voucher code online, just email us with some information and we will get you booked right in! Vouchers are non-refundable.

Accessibility:

Our Studio’s are located on the first floor of an old warehouse building. Whilst there is a lift, it is unfortunately current out of operation and so we are only accessible via the stairs. We would like to be wheel-chair accessible in the near future and this is something we will continue to push for. If you are looking for a wheel-chair accessible venue, we recommend our sister studio for pottery painting, which is located on the ground floor.

Inclusivity & Respect:

The Craft Pottery Studio is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other characteristic. We expect all participants to treat others with respect and kindness, use inclusive language and behaviour and respect different perspectives and experiences.

We prohibit the use of hate speech, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation and the use of slurs or derogatory remarks.

Please report violations to management via admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com. Violations may result in warnings, removal from classes, suspension, or termination of membership.

By using our services, you agree to abide by this policy, helping us maintain a positive and respectful community.

General Reschedules & Refunds:

If you need to cancel or rearrange your class or workshop, we can easily do that for you if you get in touch with us in time. We cannot refund or reschedule classes that have given less than 48 hours cancellation notice and this unfortunately includes sickness or emergency circumstances. When booking, please consider this as a risk that you take. This policy reflects the recent wave of late-notice cancellations we have received.

Course Reschedules & Refunds:

For the cancellation of a course we require at least 1 weeks notice.

We cannot guarantee a reschedule of a missed session or offer an alternative date. If you find yourself unable to attend a session in your course and need to cancel, we kindly request that you inform us at your earliest convenience. If there are available slots on another course date that aligns with yours, we will make every effort to accommodate a reschedule. However, please bear in mind that this option is rare, and we can only do so if there is enough space to accommodate the change. In most cases, it might not be feasible to reschedule, and you may have to miss that particular week.

In the event that you miss a week of your course, resulting in falling behind, our tutors will do their best to help you catch up on the missed work. Nevertheless, it's important to note that this assistance is not guaranteed.

To ensure a smooth learning experience for all participants, we strongly recommend committing firmly to all the course dates listed when booking with us. This will help ensure that you get the most out of the course and avoid any unnecessary disruptions.

Course dates:

We release new course dates every 2-3 months. You can find our next course release date on our homepage at the top of the screen. Our courses are our most popular experience here at The Craft and often book up 3-6 months in advance. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking your course as close to the release date as possible. If you have a pre-existing voucher for a course, please get in touch if your desired date is fully booked. We reserve x2 spaces per course for those with gift vouchers to ensure you get a spot.

Minimum Attendees Requirement:

Please be aware that all classes, courses, or workshops are subject to a minimum attendee requirement. In the event that this requirement is not met, we reserve the right to either cancel or reschedule the respective class, course, or workshop.

If, unfortunately, your class is canceled due to not meeting the minimum attendee threshold, we will ensure that all registered participants are promptly notified in advance. As a gesture of goodwill, you will be offered a choice between receiving a full refund or rescheduling to a future class at your convenience.

We highly value your interest and support in our educational offerings and will do our best to ensure an interactive and engaging learning experience for all participants. Your cooperation in spreading the word about our classes is greatly appreciated, as it contributes to meeting the minimum attendee requirement and helps ensure the success of our courses.

Lateness:

Please arrive on time, or let us know if you are going to be late. If you arrive late within a 20 minute time frame, you may partake in the class however it will still need to finish within the allocated time-slot. If you arrive out-with 30 minutes, we can no longer host your session.

Pottery Collection:

Collection is always from studio 102A. Pieces are complete within a 3 week period from your lesson and we will contact you via the text number associated with your booking to let you know how to collect them from us. Every customer is given an 8 week period between our first collection notice to collect before we send you a final collection reminder with a further 2 weeks. After a 10 week period, uncollected items will be donated unless we hear back from you. We do not have the storage space for forgotten pots!

Please note, we never post pots. We cannot be responsible for unreliable postal services and should you be unable to collect your items, sending them to you is unfortunately not an option for us. Instead, if you are visiting we recommend asking a friend or family member to collect them for you!

Quality Control:

Whilst we do everything we can to ensure the safe passage of your creations through our kilns to your hands, pottery is a very difficult craft and we cannot guarantee their survival. Chips, cracks, bubbles, inconsistent glaze, warping and explosions are common and should be expected, however our tutors do their best to minimise this and have a good success rate! Pieces often collapse on the wheel when pushed too far - to avoid this happening be sure to follow the instructions of our tutor.

Please also be aware that whilst we try and achieve consistency in finishing up your creations, glaze and surface texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. We use a white stoneware clay for all of our classes, however depending on the supply certain clays may be lighter or darker, effecting the glaze. We cannot glaze the underside of any pot - if we did, they would stick to the kiln during firing. We leave a 1-4cm gap at the bottom of each pot when we dip it in glaze. This is quite common in the world of ceramics.

When applying this guidance to coursework, please be aware that should you not follow the instruction of the tutor this may result in over-glazed, under-glazed or broken pottery creations.

Parental/Chaperone Attendance:

Parental or Chaperone attendance is not required however you are welcome to stay for the duration of your child’s class if you would like. We ask that only 1 parent/chaperone per child is in attendance.

Tutor Allergies:

We kindly ask that no products containing nuts are brought into the studio premises. A member of our team is severely allergic to nuts and cannot come into contact with them. Should we be concerned that nuts are being consumed within the studio, we may ask you to remove them and we will need to disinfect any areas that you may have contaminated. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please pop us an email.
